MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma
- Competency in both written and oral English
- Acceptable personal habits, including good job attendance and punctuality.
- Good mental and physical health.
- Emotional stability to work with students and staff and maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to assume responsibility for delivery of support services independently of immediate supervisor.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule approved by administrator
- Knowledge of Whatcom County Social Services
- ESA certification
DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS:
- Advanced professional coursework and college classes
- Proven ability to follow already adopted procedures
- Willingness and ability to contribute new ideas
- Cooperatively working to develop and enhance curriculum and strategies
- Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor
- Masters in Social Work
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Readiness to Learn Coordinator position includes oversight at the Blaine Family Service Center which is to link human services, education and local resources in support of the healthy development of families. Duties include: health coverage outreach, developing children’s clothing bank, school and household supplies bank, community voicemail, and other linkage to social services.
- The Intervention Specialist is responsible for the delivery of educational and support services, i.e., classroom presentations, training, alcohol/drug support groups, COA support groups, individual support, crisis intervention, screening, case consultation, and family support services. Providing education to students around the issues of substance abuse and prevention through class presentations in Health, Project Alert, COA, Anger Management and High Risk support groups. Writing grants for state, local, and federal monies and continued collaboration with district administration on utilizing state tobacco settlement dollars
- TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 187 days (6 hours per day); Social Service wage as per SEIU agreement
STATE MANDATED REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful Fingerprinting
- HIV/HBV & Sexual Harassment Training (district will provide)
- Immunization proof (if born 1/1/57 or later)
