BLAINE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A SPECIAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATE FOR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM.

DEADLINE:                              August 25, 2008 (Current classified employees may submit a bid form)                             

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Acceptable personal habits and conduct
  • Emotionally stable, even tempered and patient
  • Good habits of job attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to lift, move, and/or push heavy loads
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to work with high school students
  • Classes/training related to Special Education
  • Experience working with behavioral and classroom management issues

DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Willingness and ability to contribute new ideas
  • Ability to relate, interact and communicate with students with disabilities
  • Ability to deal with students and adults in a positive manner
  • Have ability to be highly flexible and adaptable to changes in routine
  • Two-year degree or equivalent

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assist the Special Education teacher as needed

STATE MANDATED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful Fingerprinting
  • HIV/HBV & Sexual Harassment Training
  • Immunization proof (if born 1/1/57 or later)

HOURS:

  • As per school calendar
  • 6.5  hours per student day
