RECESS ASSOCIATE

Blaine School District is now accepting applications for a RECESS ASSOCIATE to serve grades K-2 and 3-5.  This is a 2 hour position each school day in each building.

BUILDING:                                    Primary School and Elementary School

DEADLINE:                                    August 22, 2008 (Current classified employees may submit a bid form)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful previously related work experience
  • Basic competencies in written or oral English
  • Acceptable personal habits and conduct

DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Successful completion of Educational Assistance Program or equivalent from a community or technical college
  • Good job attendance and punctuality
  • Successful work experience at primary school level
  • Has worked with and enjoys youth
  • Good organizational skills
  • Able to work with kids in a positive manner

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • To understand school rules and safety procedures
  • Organizing indoor and outdoor structured play activities with direct supervision
  • Helping teacher take care of personal needs of students
  • Maintaining teaching areas such as getting out and putting away materials needed by youngsters
  • Keep daily records of students
  • Role modeling as well as teach positive social behavior
  • Monitoring student behavior, enforcing rules and regulations
  • Additional routine duties as assigned by the principal

SALARY:

  • Per current District –SEIU negotiated salary schedule.

STATE MANDATED REQUIREMENTS:

  • FINGERPRINTING
  • HIVAIDS AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT TRAINING (District will provide)
  • IMMUNIZATION PROOF (if born 1/1/57 or later)

HOURS:

  • As per school calendar – 2  hours per day
