School Improvement Plan
- Our Building Goal is to raise math achievement to 60 percent or higher and reduce level 1’s and 2’s by 12 percent on the MSP.
- Throughout 2009-2010, teachers will continue to develop and implement differentiated teaching strategies to address the needs of students as identified by teacher monitoring and assessments in order to meet or exceed MSP standards in all contents.
- By November 30, each teacher and grade level will be able to identify which students are our level 2 students and what skills they are lacking as indicated from assessment data. Following November 30, subject areas and grade levels will collectively design a plan to address the learning needs of the identified students in order to meet the MSP standards.
- Ten times throughout the 2009-2010 school year, the middle school and high school science staff will collaborate on notebooking, formative assessment, and metacognition to align common strategies aimed at raising student achievement to meet or exceed the state science standards.
Invitation to Parents
Parents are informed of and supported in the academic process through our Open House, Parent Teacher Conferences, Student Learning Plans, access to Duxdata and the availability of teachers. A characteristic of high performing schools is high parent involvement, which we at Blaine Middle School need. Parents are invited to support students in the classroom by becoming a volunteer. All parents are encouraged to join our PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization).

Building Use and condition
The middle school houses students in grades 6 through 8. The building is used year-round for school and community events. The state math champs competition is hosted by the middle school and involves over four-hundred schools from around Washington. We are the heart of the community and share our facilities frequently.
