School Improvement Plan

Blaine Primary School has developed a building wide plan centered on RTI (Response to Intervention).  We are screening all students fall, winter, and spring using the Dibels tool, which will help us focus our instructional strategies. Using real data we will be able to monitor those students (Tier II and III students) that need assistance in specific areas using specifically designed interventions. Much of this work is done through Professional Learning Communities.

Specifically our goals fall into 2 areas, reading and reading.  Specifically our goals fall into 2 areas:

  1. Reading:  As part of the primary school RTI implementation, we will use the screener, Dibels, as the measure to identify Tier II and Tier III students.  We will design intervention to decrease the number of Tier II and III students by 10% by January 2010 screening and an additional 10% by May 2010 screening.

  1. Math:  Blaine Primary School will be designing an RTI plan in math starting in January that will result in a fall, winter, and spring screener and an Intervention and progress monitoring program that will direct our instruction for Tier II and III students.  We will be developing our RTI plan in Math to begin in the fall of 2010.

Invitation to Parents

Results are shared with parents and students through their fall, winter, and spring reading screening results, Parent Teacher Conferences and Open House.  Teachers are also available to meet or discuss academic progress.  We want to welcome you and invite you to volunteer at Blaine Primary School.  Our volunteers are an integral part of the educational process.  Volunteers help tutor, copy materials, and help with many other activities.  If you are interested in volunteering please go to the primary office and fill out a volunteer packet and nametag.

Building Use and condition

The Blaine Primary School was established September 1994, with Kindergarten through Second Grades.  Originally the building consisted of 16 classrooms, a multipurpose area, outdoor covered play area, and a library with a computer lab. As a result of the May 2001 Capital Project Bond passage, the following improvements were made to our building: Additional pod was built with eight classrooms, outside lighting, new phone system, new intercom system, new carpeting, paved parking in the back lot, extension of the covered play area, and playground improvements.
