Your Voice Matters

Blaine School District's Board of Directors is currently in the first phase of searching for a new superintendent. At their Special Meeting on May 17, the Board selected Rich Parker, from the consultant firm McPherson & Jacobson, to guide this process. The Board met with Mr. Parker in a Special Meeting on May 20 for the purpose of discussing their own criteria for a new superintendent. Mr. Parker then met, on May 21, with two groups of administrators as well as many staff members. He will be returning to Blaine on May 29 for additional meetings with students at the high school and a second staff group.

Throughout this important process, the Board has consistently remained committed to considering the input of all stakeholders, including staff, parents, students, and the community at large. To that end, the following options have been provided for this purpose. Parents and community members are encouraged to participate by providing input through one of these options.

  • Take the online survey: This survey asks four open-ended questions. Feel free to be completely honest and forthright. Responses will be provided to the Board exactly as they are written with no editing. (Note that any profanity or defamation of character statements will be removed.) The survey will close on Tuesday, May 28. Here's the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BlaineWA
  • Attend the Community Focus Group Meeting: Parents and patrons are also invited to attend this meeting where the same questions will be addressed in a discussion format. This one-hour meeting will take place at 7:00pm on Wednesday, May 29, in the District Office Boardroom. Individuals with disabilities who may need a modification to participate in this meeting should contact the District Office as soon as possible in advance so that special arrangements can be made.
