Optional Learning Opportunities

March 23, 2020

Good Morning students, staff, families and community,

Below you will find a letter from Dr. Thomas, our Director of Teaching and Learning. She and her team have been working tirelessly to develop learning opportunities for our students during this unprecedented closure. We are fortunate to have such dedicated staff working on behalf of our youth.

As we roll out this first of what will be many communications to you regarding teaching and learning, please remember that for now we want children to work on refreshing, reviewing, and retaining what they know. We don't want families to feel like they have to replicate the school learning environment. Try not to stress. Try to enjoy your time together.

Sincerely,

Dr. Christopher Granger, Superintendent
Every Student. Every Day.

A Message from the Department of Teaching & Learning

Dear Families,

We love our students and are deeply committed to their learning and growth, so we’re eager to provide support and connect with kids during this challenging time. That said, our top priority must be protecting the health and safety of our community. We’ve been busy getting food service up and running, keeping track of changes in guidelines, as well as engaging in some initial planning for childcare options. This week, our amazing teachers are back working in new ways to provide resources, connect with students and families, and engage in remote professional learning opportunities.

As Dr. Granger shared Friday, our goal will be to offer some optional enrichment activities that help students continue learning during this extended time at home, rather than try to replicate what their typical classroom experience would be. As many of us are parents as well as eduEverycators, we can imagine you’ll be more than happy to have some ideas to keep the kiddos busy! Below you’ll find a link to a message from your child’s principal with some basic initial resources to use with your kids during this time, if you so choose. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we are all working hard to navigate a complex and rapidly changing situation.

You can expect to have weekly communications regarding learning resources from your child’s school. Please reach out via email to your child’s teacher or principal if you have questions.

Warmly,
