Superintendent's Message October 23, 2020

Good evening students, staff, families and community,

We have successfully wrapped up week two of hybrid learning in kindergarten with our A Group. We will take the next step in our phase-in process on November 2nd, bringing 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade hybrid learners to the campuses. We appreciate the community-wide effort to mask up, stay distanced and keep your social circle small. The health and safety of our community is always a concern for the district and is attached to school and athletic activities continuing.

There has been a lot of discussion about the transition to hybrid and its impact on the instructional delivery models. As is often the case with transitions, we know there may be adjustments needed. Those who are in the hybrid model will be in the building every other week. In K-5, our hybrid learners in their at-home week and our online only students will have a couple of times in the day to login and be with their entire class, as well as additional access to the teacher during office hours. As we move ahead and teachers become more comfortable with managing multiple groups, and students become more comfortable with their new routine, you could see an increase in the amount of live time your child's teacher may be providing. In the 6-12 classes we are moving forward with the plan to live stream content from the classroom for those students who are at home.

I’d like to remind all of our families that wellness screenings are required for every student to enter the building, and students K-5 cannot complete their own attestation. Wellness screenings must be completed in Skyward Family Access before your student arrives at the building. In order for the screening process to remain unobtrusive on the education process, it requires everyone to do their part. If you haven’t started practicing yet, please do. If you need Skyward help, please contact your student’s school.
