With the extended number of days lost to inclement weather during the month of February, five (5) to date in our case, Whatcom County districts are starting the process of projecting calendar implications. Our 2018-19 calendar calls for the first three days lost to be made up on June 14-17-18, and that is what we anticipate at this time. As the additional two days are eligible for waiver application to OSPI, we are in the process of considering recommendation of said application to the Board. Once approved by OSPI, and provided that there are no additional days lost, we can move forward with formal designation of June 18 as the final day of the current school year.

Schedule Reminder: Late Start (10:20am) on Monday, February 25

FYI
If a student is part of our Free or Reduced program (about 1/2 of our students), they are able to eat breakfast for FREE. Lunches are either FREE or $.40 depending on F or R. Today's breakfast was eggs and hashbrowns. An entire month menu for March will be posted to our website soon.

Schedule Reminder: No School on February 15 (Mid-Winter Break) and February 18 (President's Day)

Blaine School District is cancelling school on Thursday, February 14. Our maintenance and grounds staff have done an incredible job of removing 12-14 inches of snow off of campus parking lots and sidewalks over the past three days. We also greatly appreciate the efforts of both the City of Blaine and Whatcom County road clearing crews. However, there remains too much compact snow and ice across many areas of the District to be able to run our busses safely, especially on secondary roads. Once school resumes next week, we will start the process of determining the impact of this extended storm on the school calendar. Please stay safe, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

Due to ongoing winter weather conditions, all schools will again be closed on Wednesday, February 13. All campus activities are also cancelled.

BMS Make a Change update: Our students/Parents/Businesses/Supporters have raised $1569 dollars for the Blaine FoodBank. This will be used to purchase food for Blaine families in need of a jumpstart. Thank you EVERYONE for helping us reach OUR goal on this community project.
If you would still like to support Blaine, the FoodBank is a great place to start.

BMS Parents/Guardians: “Make a Change” Last day is tomorrow! We are awfully close to our goal of 1500 dollars. If you know someone or some business who is considering a donation for the 2018 year; please consider the Blaine Food Bank through BMS. The food bank gives soo much to this community and the students of Blaine School District.

Make a Change: wow Blaine and Birch Bay...our second collection day produced another 700 dollars! That brings our total to 1200 dollars. Thank you everyone for your contributions. A special thank you to the local businesses that have donated back to our community. Let’s try to blow our goal of 1500 dollars out of the water.

ASB Report: We counted just over 500 dollars in donations for the Blaine Food Bank. We still have a long ways to go. Thank you to all the students, families, and local businesses that have donated!
