Dan Chaplik

Parents, Families and Citizens,

My name is Dan Chaplik, and I am excited and honored to serve the school district and community as your Interim Superintendent of the Blaine School District for the 2025-2026 school year. Over the course of the 2025-2026 school year, I will work tirelessly on the community’s behalf to involve you in various aspects of Blaine Public Schools that are of interest to you. These opportunities will include but are not limited to budget development, district communication, student voice/belonging, and a variation of supper with the superintendent that will include regular opportunities to get your questions answered as I learn about the needs our school system. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with your sons and daughters in a school system that belongs to the community.

Before coming to Blaine to serve as interim superintendent, I spent the past thirty-two years as a teacher, principal and superintendent. In 1993, I started as a 3rd grade teacher at Blaine Elementary School. In 1998, I moved to the Burlington-Edison School District and taught 7th and 8th grade. From 2000-2005 I was principal of Tonasket Elementary School and for the past twenty years I have been superintendent in the Republic and Sultan School Districts. I cannot reiterate enough how lucky I am to come to back to where it all started for me in 1993 as a teacher. My memories of Blaine are a school district and community that has a healthy culture of excellence and partnership with a focus on student learning and growth. Together, we can make an amazing difference for our students.

My wife Vickie and I met at Blaine Elementary School when I was a second-year teacher and she was student teaching. Today we have two sons, Brayden who is 23 and Keaton who is 22. I will be living this school year in Birch Bay while my wife and I determine our next steps.

Be on the lookout for regular newsletter updates, and opportunities to participate in focus groups or on task forces that are looking into one aspect or another of our school district. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
