quarters in jar

Dear students, staff, families and community,

Education Support Professionals Day:

Yesterday was Education Support Professionals Day, and I would like to recognize all of our staff who work tirelessly to support the quality education of our students every day. These individuals play a significant role in public education and work day in and day out for the well-being of our students and the effective functioning of our district. I extend my personal gratitude to each and every one of them.

Early Release Next Week: Next week we will head into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Don’t forget, all of our students in grades K-12 will have early release at 12:50 on Wednesday, November 24th. May you all enjoy quality downtime and take the opportunity to reflect on the many things we have to be grateful for.

Storm/Flooding: This week, in our community and those around us, many were impacted by the rain and flooding. Right now our community has much to be grateful for in the wake of last week’s storm, as the damage to our little corner of the northwest was minimal compared to what many of our neighboring communities are experiencing.. If you or your family are in a situation and there is anything you need help with, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our District Office (360) 332-5881 or our Family Service Center (360) 332-0740.

5-11 Year Old Vaccination Opportunity: In conjunction with Washington State's Learn to Return program, Blaine School District is hosting a voluntary COVID-19 vaccination opportunity for our 5-11 year old students on Thursday, December 2nd from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Blaine Middle School Cafeteria, with a follow-up clinic on Monday, January 3rd. There will be approximately 75 appointment slots available. If you would like to receive the link to sign up for an appointment for your student, please complete this form. The actual appointment link will be emailed directly to the email address provided on the form, on a first come first serve basis, until the appointments are filled. The appointment link will be emailed out by Wednesday, November 24th.

Make Real Change Food Bank Campaign is Coming

From December 1st - December 15th we will hold our second annual district-wide Make Real Change campaign for the Blaine Food Bank. It will be our first opportunity to host the event with students on campus in all of our buildings and we’re excited for the opportunity for students to get involved! We’ll be collecting coin donations at all of our campuses, and some of our student groups will be collecting food donations as well. Keep an eye out for more details coming soon.

It’s a great night to be a Borderite, and, as always, a great night to be your superintendent.

Sincerely,

Dr. Christopher Granger
