Community Message Mar. 24th

Good evening students, staff, families and community,

We have a non-student day next Friday, March 31st, and then a week of Spring Break. We will have K-12 conferences the week after the break on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, so be on the lookout for details from the campuses about signing up for those.

 WEEKLY LATE START SURVEY RESULTS

Back in February I introduced to you the idea of a one hour late start every week, on the same weekday, for the coming school year.  We have since collected your feedback regarding the preference of the day of the week, and 60% of those who responded chose Wednesdays. We are moving forward with putting these weekly late starts on the calendar and will have an updated calendar on the website soon.

 FACTS ABOUT FINANCE

School finance has become a topic of interest all across our state. As Spring arrives and we navigate building next year’s budget here at the school district, I wanted to provide you all with some basic facts about how school finance works. While there are many complex factors, there are some basic facts that I think help people understand the general workings of the district. We’ve created a social media series called School Finance Facts to relay that information. If you aren’t a social media follower, or missed them, you can also view them on our website. As we put out more facts in the coming weeks, we’ll add them to the website document as well.

 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

Springtime also means kindergarten registration. Registration is now open for the 2023-2024 school year. You can view information about kindergarten at Blaine Primary School, along with an online registration link and tips for navigating registration on our Kindergarten Information page. You’ll also find details about our Transitional Kindergarten program and a link to its online application form.

 TSA AT STATE!

This week 20 BHS students have been competing in more than 30 events at the State Competition for the Technology Student’s Association, with 1600 students from across the state. The events our students are competing in include robotics, structural design, catapult, impromptu speeches, and silent film making. Awards will be issued tomorrow, and we look forward to hearing the results. Good luck Borderites! We know you’ll make us proud!
