2nd grade teachers

Good evening students, staff, families and community,

It is hard to believe today is the 1st of April and we have now completed ¾ of the 2021-2022 school year. Spring Break has arrived and we hope you all enjoy an opportunity to take a break from school and connect with your families and friends.

Student Recognitions

BES

Blaine Primary School and Elementary School have been working with staff on Playworks, utilizing play during recess to promote social emotional learning. As part of this program 60 students (Junior Coaches) from Blaine Elementary are assuming leadership roles in facilitating play during recess to become helpers in their grades, as well as lower grade levels, to help facilitate safety and belonging at each recess they support. Great job Junior Coaches!

BHS Athletics

This week the WIAA recognized BHS junior Piper Nissen as a Student Athlete of the Week. Coach Riley Miller submitted the nomination, and in it she stated; “Nissen's first game of the season was almost perfect, allowing only one hit, along with hitting .750 with two RBIs. Not only is she an outstanding player, but an outstanding teammate and leader on and off the field. With the little extra time she has she helps develop younger players in the youth league and devotes time after her own practice to help coach 3rd-to-6th graders.” Congratulations on this well deserved recognition Piper!

Senior Scott Baldwin was recently named to the All Northwest Conference 2nd Team. Here’s what Coach Farrar had to say about this young man; “Scott had a wonderful season as one of the leaders of our team. He was steady for us at the point guard position, a phenomenal defender & made big plays in big moments. As a leader, he and our senior group set the standard for our expectations, preparation, practice habits and our commitment to excellence. While we are all happy for him and the recognition, he would be the first to tell you he only cared about achieving our goal of getting to the state tournament. We cannot thank him and all of our seniors enough for everything they have done for our program the last four years.”

Staff Recognitions

BPS

Each of our buildings have school improvement plans, and our staff work hard to keep those plans at the forefront of their decision making as well as their work with students. This week our second grade team celebrated meeting a grade level reading goal and were treated to root beer floats by Mr. Radke and Ms. McKeown. Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Dr. Stacy Thomas said about the accomplishment, “the team is a very collaborative and focused group, and this is a great example of the power of working together in a data driven and practice focused way.” Congratulations Mr. Crabtree, Mrs. Deming, Ms. Light, Mr. Mundy, Mrs. Raymond, Mrs. Weeda and Mrs. Wenderski!

BMS

Blaine Middle School staff stepped up onto the court today to take on a group of 8th grade students in a rousing competition of ultimate frisbee. The much anticipated assembly brought a level of energy and enthusiasm to the student body. Thank you for this great wrap up to the 3rd quarter of the school year!

BHS Athletics

After a successful Boys Basketball season that saw our boys reach the state tournament we are blessed to join in celebrating BHS basketball’s Coach Brett Farrar and Assistant Coach Jessy Farrar who were recently recognized by the WIAA as All Northwest Conference Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year. Your performance on and off the court make you exemplary representatives of our school and community, and we are incredibly proud of you both.
