teacher appreciation week

Good evening students, staff, families and community,

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week we had the opportunity to highlight the work of some of our faculty members using social media, but as is the case with all social media, it represents only a snapshot in time. We are incredibly grateful and proud of the work of all our teachers, and we look forward to continuing to be able to highlight the wonderful work they are doing with students. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to you all!

School Lunch Hero Day

Today is School Lunch Hero Day. Our food service workers may not wear capes, but they are certainly heroes to us! If you see one of our wonderful food service workers, please be sure to tell them thank you for all they do.

Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we will be sharing wellness tips on our social media channels throughout the month. If you find yourself and/or your family in need of support, the following crisis resources are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week:

Volunteers of America Crisis Line: 1-800-584-3578

National Suicide Helpline: 1-800-273-8255

Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741

Bus Behavior Reminders

We all find ourselves in need of reminders now and again. If you have a bus rider in your household, we’d appreciate you reminding them that their bus should be treated like a classroom on wheels. Classroom behavior is expected. For your younger students, please empower them to use their Safe Keeper Rituals to hold themselves and their peers accountable. Below are the rules posted on all buses, but a reminder at home would be appreciated too.

  • Quiet classroom voices

  • Sit facing forward, feet on floor

  • Keep aisle & emergency exits clear

  • Always listen to the driver

  • Hands, feet and belongings to yourself

  • Use kind words (and kind gestures!)

  • Save snacks for home or school

  • Use garbage can for trash

Upcoming School Calendar Items:

It’s a great night to be a Borderite, and, as always, a great night to be your superintendent.

Sincerely,

Dr. Christopher Granger
