Community Message

Dear students, staff, families and community,

The first week of October arrived in a spectacularly warm fashion. I hope you have been able to enjoy some time outdoors in this summer-like season we are experiencing.

LOCKDOWN DRILL FOLLOW UP

We completed our first lockdown drill of the year this week. These drills allow us to continue to learn and improve our processes. They are also an opportunity for family discussions around the topic. Using common language when talking with students about our drills is important. We encourage you to visit our YouTube Channel, Blaine School District, WA, and view the Standard Response Protocol videos from the I Love You Guys Foundation (in our playlist “SRP”) . Familiarizing yourself with our processes will help you talk with and support your students as additional drills occur throughout the year.

MEALS, MENUS & PAYMENTS

We’ve listened to your feedback and have made it easier to find information on our website regarding our Nutrition Services Department. From any home page (district or Blaine campus school) you will find “Menus & Payments” as an option in the top right corner. We appreciate your feedback on these sorts of things and hope this change is helpful.

We are also using a new barcode system for students to access and pay for meals this year. In the K-5 grades this is managed with assistance from the teacher, but for our older students there is an expectation for some responsibility. Middle and high school students will be receiving a new barcode soon, and you should expect to see communication from your individual schools.
