Superintendent's Weekly Message

Good evening students, staff, families and community,

Thank you all for your tremendous commitment and effort during this unique year. We are looking forward to the return of all students in school every day for the 2021-2022 school year.

Chromebooks: Return now, checkout in August

Reminder: If for any reason your student has not returned their Chromebook please make sure that is done Monday or Tuesday, including their chromebook, charger, bag and hot spots. Dates and times will be announced in August for students and parents to attend an informational meeting and check out student devices for the 2021-2022 school year.

Summer Meals

Blaine School District will have no charge meals available for all students  up to 18 years of age, or 21 if enrolled in a program and not graduated. Meals are to be picked up on Wednesdays between 1:00 and 5:30 through the summer. Visit our Food Services page for more information.

Summer Academic Support

The district will be providing access to a math support program, Dreambox, for all students over the summer. While this is not required, we are hoping students will spend some time this summer reading and working on math skills when they are able. Look for information coming soon on our website.

Summer Access to Borderite Stadium/Track

We are excited for our student athletes to be gearing up for summer workouts in preparation for the 2021-2022 school year. After reviewing the student team needs for facility use, the following times will be available for general community use of the stadium beginning on Monday, June 21.

June 21, 2021  -  August 16, 2021

  • Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 9:00 am, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

  • Saturday - Sunday 6:00 am - 8:00 pm

Community members will enter the stadium through the South gate adjoining the parking lot next to the old concession stand. We ask that you abide by all posted rules for safety and protection of the field turf which are posted by the entrance.

Community access times for after August 16 will be determined in the summer and communicated in August when we have a better idea of team and student use times for those seasons.

Immunization Update

Immunization Requirements for students in Alternative School Programs

Based upon a legal review of the immunization requirements in RCW 28A.210 regarding Home-School, Vocational Technical, Running Start, and Virtual School Students, the Department of Health has updated the Immunization Manual for Schools, Preschools, and Child Care Facilities (PDF) June 2021, to remove the language around “shared air space”. This means that starting with the 2021-22 school year, all students enrolled at a public or private school must follow the immunization rules, even if participating in an alternative school program. These students will need a completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) and/or Certificate of Exemption (COE) on file at the school or district program and these students will need to be included in the school’s annual immunization report that is submitted to DOH. The resource Incomplete Immunization Notice Sample Letter (Word)  available on the school and childcare website, www.doh.wa.gov/SCCI has been updated to include this information. We are working on updating the Spanish translation.
